Oak Grove Primary School will hold kindergarten registration from 9:00 – 12:00 on Thursday March 30,2023.

Online Application Birth Certificate

LA Immunization Record – Signed and Dated by the doctor

Proof of Residence in the School Zone (Current Gas or Electric Bill showing Service Address)

MANDATORY KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT Act 386 requires that prior to a child entering first grade in a Louisiana public school, they have attended a full day kindergarten program (or passed an academic readiness screening)
* must be a full day program
* must attend for a full school year
* can be public or non-public kindergarten
* must have passed readiness screening administered by public school

This means that five-year old's are mandated to attend kindergarten. A parent can defer kindergarten for one year if one of the following is true: the child has not had their fifth birthday prior to the first day of school the child is enrolled in a pre-k program.

The pre-k program can be public or private, but not home-school or home-study Ascension Parish Schools do not provide public pre-k to 5-year old's enrolling in preschool for the first time. The kindergarten program is not prohibited from being a home-school program, however the provider must be registered as a home-school provider with the state department.
